I find it interesting that people on this board say: "I got 4 percent 3 years ago, 2 percent 2 years ago, last year I got no raise and this year I'm lucky to have a job. Then today Davita profit 18 percent and the big F profit 9 percent.
How did they do it? Off your backs I guess!! Keep up the good work!!!

I couldn't agree more. I can't stant it when people say "I'm lucky to have a job". I bust my butt for my company. Luck has nothing to do with it.

A lot of people have lost their jobs in this economy through no fault of their own. There are six unemployed people for every available job. I believe that you work hard, but you chose a profession that had held up in a weak economy.
Who knows what will happen to us if and when bundling starts?

Dave,
Well I can tell you what wont happen to us...
Raises, better benefits, and better lives.
Going downhill....

I agree with you too. Last face it, the only people that should be lucky to still have their job in this industry are the middle management and people outside the clinics. From what I see, patients still need treatments, so clinics still need pct's, nurses, and biomeds. I feel pretty safe at the clinc level. The fact that companies throw out the "you should feel fortunate to have a job" is complete BS. Typical scare tactics, the same as the politicians use.
<Entitlement???>

What's wrong with realizing the truth that no matter what job you have(or possession, health or life for that matter) it could be gone tomorrow......and then being thankful for it??? There is no guarantee against losing any of it!! This especially applies to bonuses....-you are not automatically owed one! If you're receiving the pay that was initially offered to you for your job, and you are not happy...-you are perfectly free to quit!...but it's not an entitlement!!!!! What's with all the entitlement mentality going on these days anyways???? BTW, -this also applies to healthcare insurance, - Noone owes it to you!
I agree with Entitlement that way to many people should be happy they have a job and a steady income. I saw my father lose his union job after being a loyal employee for almost thirty years, greed killed the company. I myself was not given a raise this year which I am fine with because I do my job because I love it, it pays the bills with some extra to send my kid to college and heath benifits for all. I would even be willing to pay a few bucks for the benifits I have if my employer asked. On the other hand, I must say I would be pissed if I did not get a raise and they were turning a major profit but then again, it is not my company and if I do not like it the door is always there for me to leave.

Hey we all work hard, but this is a great field to work in. We can't do anything about the politics of the job in our positions. I'm sure it's not as simple as we think. We all want more money, but like me, I'm sure you're getting paid pretty well even if you're not getting increases to match inflation. Most of us have been at this for awhile and we've topped out so all we get is a cost of living increase. Take a deep breath and be happy. Just refuse to work weekends and you'll be Ok.

I for one am thankful to have the job I have. I thank the "BIG F" as referred to often for giving me a chance to prove that I am the one for this job. Certainly I have proved myself and my company has shown it's appreciation by for one keeping me on, giving me raises, offering health and other benefits. This is a GREAT company to work for and I unlike some people, I do not take for granted the fact that I have a good job and the fact that it could end tomorrow. I come to work everyday and do the best I can. I do not just do what I need to do to get by. I can almost guarantee that most of you that think they deserve more than they're getting are the ones sitting around doing as little as possible to get by then wondering why they don't get some BIG raise for it. I for one will not walk by a piece of paper on the floor and figure it is not my job to pick it up. Think about it once, your job is not just to be a tech, it is to be a good employee and do what you can to help make your company successful. If you succeed in this it will come back to you. It's all about attitude!! Most of you do not even figure in you benefits when you add your wages (add another 30% to 40%). I’ve had several jobs that do not even compare to the one I have now and I worked a lot harder for a lot less. So be thankful!

Acutetech/entitlement,
I can understand what you are saying... BUTTTT... when I was hired on, they had great benefits, great PTO, great work environment. Now, all of the above is cut 50%, and the profit margin was not decreasing, it was increasing before the cut! This means they cut what the company promised us when we were hired on; which is so wrong of the company. If I were the company CEO, I would take a look at the economy and my profits, and if I saw an increase, give my employees a raise or bonus to help them in this horrible economic depression. I would fully understand if the profit margin was a negative percent, but it's positive. Now that they got a taste of the blood money, it will never end.
Things change/happen and not always for the better. How deep of a hole is the company in? What are they using the money for? There are to many unanswered questions which I believe we will never be privy to. I do sympathize with you though. If you are that unhappy i would suggest moving on but the grass is not always greener.

John H., Well,...perhaps I should concede....you may be right....perhaps it's unlucky that you have your job!!!....'cause afterall,.....they do indeed love the taste of blood money!!!
You know, this could be debated forever. The bottom line is this. It is their company and they can do what they please unless you have a contract, promises or not, right or wrong. Have you approached the powers to be? At the least you may have a little satisfaction knowing you spoke your mind. If they are unwilling to bend why stay there and be unhappy?

I like the thought that if the company is showing a profit they should give better raises. So if the company shows a negative they should take some away. It seems that some think unless the company is in the RED they should be forking it out. Maybe that is why there are not in the RED because they manage their money keeping some profits for gloomy days. I think in this economy if we are not seeing a reduction in hours, wages or benefits we should consider ourselves lucky!
