Hello, I would like to hear from those of you who have the BVM modules on their Fresenius mahcines. We currently have 42 2008k machines with BVM modules and to me it seems the failure rate is rather high on these modules. In the last 2.5 years I have replaced approx. 12-15 of them and currently have 5 more that need to be replaced, I am waiting for the go head to order replacement modules. Anyway, are/have any of you had simular problems with the modules failing?

CORRECTION, I just called one of my outreach clinics and found out I have 4 more bad BVM's to replace for a total of 9. We already replaced 5-6 of them last winter. So this is going to be 14 or 15 that have failed in last 10 months to a year..

There are 3 different modules in Fresenius machines, one of which can be destroyed by squeezing the cuff to deflate it quickly.
When we realized this, my nurses actually stopped doing this, and it has really reduced our failure rate. I'm sorry that I don't recall which of the 3 do this, but you may already know which type fails most often. You can order one of the other brands, but I also don't remember what needs changed besides the cable.

I think the question is about blood volume monitoring modules, not blood pressure modules. And just for information's sake here, the 1/1/08 Fresenius price book shows the new BVM module, part number M31909 on page 54, $2600.00, and the rebuilt BVM module , M31909 on page 66 with prices of $2600.00, a credit of $1690.00, for a net price of $910.00. Then there is a seperate listing on page 67 for a Reworked RM31909, with a price of $3,832.70, a credit for $2,967.70, and the final price of $865.00. I have no idea what the difference is between the rebuilt module and the reworked module, or why those prices would be so different, maybe one is a mistake. That could be important though, if you don't receive the returned goods credit! That's not to imply that Fresenius would ever deny you credit for returned goods!
