The diasafe is basically the same as an F80 dialyser. All it does is is filter out any bacteria that might be present in the dialysate before reaching the dialyser. They should be changed every 3 months.

Thanks Bob. Where does the filter go?

The filter itself is mounted with a bracket to the bottom of the cabinet under the hydrolics. There are some easy flow path changes that need to be done in order to install the filter. A new dual valve block must be installed between V24 and V26, along with some easy plumbing rerouting. The filters cost about $45 per, and need to be changed at regular intervals, every 3 months, or in other words, every PM. Hope this helps.

Greenmist is correct. They do mount on the inside of the machine. There is also another option called "Diasafe Plus" which is mounted on the outside of the machine on the lower back panel. The plumbing changes are the same but a mounting bracket is installed on the back panel which holds the Diasafe. The unit just slids in to the bracket locks into place and away you go. The filter is slightly smaller and is white and blue in colour. No light penetrates the housing to keep potential bacterial grow in chec.

There are some other maintenance issues related to Diasafe. See the Drains thread for further discussion.
