In advance thank you for all your help and answers. Our clinic has gone to some new changes and now the PCTs and Nurses come in early in the morning to open up and do all the water treatment checks in the morning. This used to be the technical staff's job(reuse and mechanical). We had training, inservices and competency exams. Under law must they have the same compentency exams and corriculum as the Water Treament Staff? Or is an inservice enough? An inservice where thy are shown how to take down readings and check for chloramines. We are in Texas (TDH). It is my opinion after reading TDH standards that they must.Thank you for your time and help.

what additional training did your "water treatment" personnel have? The texas reg's require training, competency testing (usually done with written test and demostrations of proficency in testing). As long as you are meeting the reg requirements there should be no problem. Realize that staff that are opening the facility WILL be questioned by the auditor and WILL be asked senerio questions (like if chlorine/chloramine broke through carbon tank one what would you do?) In texas they like to see that you UNDERSTAND what you are doing not that you are just reading guages and writing numbers. The state wants to know that people operating equipment can identify problems. If they are going to be working on equipment then it may be necessary for additional qualifications such as manufacturer training. Otherwise in house is acceptable as long as person doing the inservice is again "qualified". Hope this helps.
The water treatment personnel had a written proficiency test and a demonstration of profeciency. The new personnel do not. Thank you for your second opinion. Thanks
