I am curious to know if anyone is using a disinfectant other than bleach to remove organics. I am looking for alternatives to bleach our Fresenius machines in order to be more ECO friendly. I know that there is Puristeril, Minncare, Dialox, etc. If anyone is using such products rather than bleach, what results did you have - pro/con, benefits, etc.
Thanks for the help.

Nothing seems to work as well as bleach. What ever you decide to use make sure Fresenius list it as approved for use.
I do not think that using any of the other products like Puristeril, Minncare, Dialox, etc a good idea for a ROUTINE disinfection. I have heard (not experienced) that using agents like Puristeril is harder on the machines and might cause problems down the road. I also think trying to kill organic matter in dialysis equipment, while at the same time trying to be ECO is an exercise in futility.
Dialox and other similar peracetic acid products is ok for regular use and has a dual action - it decalcifies as well as disinfecting by oxidisation. It is relatively good from an ECO point of view, as it breaks down into water, oxygen and acetate. The main thing to bear in mind, as with all chemicals, is ensuring the correct dilution.
