I have 5 dialysis units that are using the F180 high flux dialyzer. Since we switched from the CT180's, ( a high eff dialyzer) I am having multiple TMP alarms. We have 1550's that are all switched to the high flux settings and are calibrated according to Baxter's specs. Any help would be greatly welcome. Maybe I am missing something obvious?

Not to Fear! Your machines are alarming because they the UF rate of the dialyzer is to high compared to the goal weight of the patient. In other words "Big Fat Dailyzer+Low Goal Weight+Long Treatment= Low TMP Alarms"! This problem is discussed at length in the thread titled "Calculating Theoretical TMP". It also gives some solutions and you may even be able to use it to convince your nursing staff that your machines are not broken. The problem is convincing your techs and nurses not to crank on the TMP adjustment to make the alarm shut up.

Cheif,
Thank you for your reply, I have been telling the staff this since we switched to high flux. I got the normal response that I did not know what I was talking about. I have read the tmp calculation topic many times and copied it for our education coordinator. I just wanted to post a direct question to get a direct response from someone other than me. I have printed your reponse and am going to post it at all me units to let them know that I ( and all the literature that comes with the dialyzers) are correct and they are going to have to adjust treatments if they are to continue using this kidney on compliant patients. Thank you for leeting me vent.
