question - how many of you guys use the gauges that fresenius sells. i inherited some pressure gauges and they seem pretty cheap. especially considering you are adjusting the machine to what they tell you. when i worked on baxter machines i made up fittings so that i could measure pressures off of my neo 2, which you can calibrate, unlike the fresenius gauges. do you see any potential problems if i did this with the fresenius? happy holidays to you all. this forum has been interesting, informative and entertaining. thanks.

breakpar,

Your correct to summize those cheesy Fresenius guages. Kudos, for utilizing your NE0-2, however, are you applying the correct formulas for mmhg to psi (negative/possitve)? I do not have that info, maybe someone can submit.

1 PSI = 51.714 mmHg

I would suggest just buying good gauges, glycerin filled would probably be the best. 18 psi is about 930 mmHg, a blown NEO transducer is probably a pretty expensive repair.

We were always warned against using glycerin filled gauges when measuring pressures in dialysis machines. The problem was that the glycerin made the gauge slow to react to pressure changes in the fluid.
