Instead of using vinegar daily on 2008k machines, is anyone just using citric acid? Saves a ton doesn't it?

I've never priced it. What does Fresenius reccommend? That's what to do.

For the K, Fresenius recommends and states you can use white distilled vinigar, citric acid, 5% acetic acid or peracetic acid based disinfectants. I have been using a product CitruClean for years. I'm sure there are many more out there but I have never had any carbonate build up ever. Not endorsing this product, just stating what I use.

AcuteTech is correct regarding what F recommends. I've been using CA that I get in bulk 50lb bags from RPC. It is a lot cheaper than vinegar and never any issues with mother growth. We have central delivery so I use the bicarb mixer to make a 25 gallon batch and fill the 2.5 gallon jugs that you get from F. I've also drilled a hole in the top on the opposite side of the white wand and inserted a red acetate wand so my staff can just plug both into the jug when doing an acid clean cycle. I also use the CA for descaling the bicarb loop once/week. Works great.

Concur with ctric acid over vinegar. Using CitruClean here. Corrosion problems are less, much cheaper to use. I get 2.5 gal packets. Gives me much needed storage space as well. Vinegar is long gone!

What strength of citric acid is everyone using on their F machines?

We've been using Edlaw's citric for 2 years now. It works fine. They have a bunch of different sizes.

The citra clean is a 2% citric solution . With vinegar, is it the biofilm build up or plugging of filters the problem? i have no problem changing but want the details as to why besides cost and space. We are in a hospital and change is never easy.
