bob,

NANT's website is NANT

Chief,

I think that this year was possibly the best I have been to so far. I especially enjoyed Sue Hanson's and John Sweeney's talks on our history, I think it's good for the newer people to know a bit about where our profession came from.
There was not enough time allotted for the roundtable discussions and a couple of them were sales pitches.

We are a vendor. For us the show has been going downhill the last couple of years. I don't understand why they keep having it in Vegas. For the midwest and east coast techs that can be a problem. What ever happened to switching the location around?? As a vendor the cost is very high for a show in Vegas. I felt that the last good show we had was in OHIO.
I don't think we will attend again next year. With fewer techs coming through the doors and the high price associated with a show in Vegas we can't continue to justify the cost.....

I also think that this year was the best that i have attended.
I liked the workshops, I attended the water tx by gambro, it was good.
I also liked the water treatment presentations by Mark Rolston, Larry Alexander and Danilo Conception.
All of the speakers were good and I like the fact that they are willing to help you on any questions that you might have.
I agree with Chuck, John Sweeney adn Sue Hanson and I'll include also Jim Curtis are real pioneers on the field.
I'd like to see next year more workshops and more water treatment talks.
I think there should be more time or more days for roundtables.
I did not like the hotel, maybe a better one next year?

Overall it was a good symposium

Vendor,

I have no idea what the vendor cost is but what I do know is, the years that the symposium has been in Vegas are when we have had the highest tech attendance. I think it was last year that the symposium was supposed to be at Foxwoods but it had to be changed because of the high price they wanted for everything.

I too would like it to be moved around but to me what really matters is the content.

I will only go if they are in Las Vegas. How nice is that? If they don't have it in Vegas, I won't even consider going.

Have been to many of these throughout the years. This year's was so-so. Dave Carlson's troubleshooting segment was great. Next year it would be great to offer a more advanced troubleshooting workshop.

This was my first NANT and I enjoyed it a lot. I especially liked meeting some of you from the boards. As for location, I think the hotel wasn't so great and it would be nice to see some other venues. I mean, I don't mind traveling but something closer to home (east coast) would be nice for a change; Sven- you need to get out more.

I agree with Chuck that the most important thing is the content. It was great to hear some history. I also liked how they had the concurrent sessions because I work as a Biomed but maintain a CCHT. With a dual job role, I was able to choose topics of interest both technical and clinical. I also liked the fact that I didn't have to take notes thanks to the thumb drives. It will help me present what I learned to my coworkers. I would also like to see an advanced troubleshooting class.

I hope the vendors don't pull out, as it was good to place some faces with the names and I also was able to hear about some that I wasn't familiar with. All in all, I had a good experience and would like to go again next year.

I agree... Bring it to the east coast. Our clinic might pay for something I can drive to.

To Bart - I don't think that your comment applies since the president elect is a nurse.
To all those bemoaning the location - show your support with your feet rather than your words. The Las Vegas location has demonstrated a significant bump in attendance. Additionally, I can't think of anywhere else in the country that is easier and cheaper to get to than Las Vegas.

I think NANT got away from the technical side a long time ago. I still think it is a good Organization for Patient Care Techs, but not a dedicatied Equipment/Biomed Tech Organization. Don't get me wrong, I still pay my dues because there isn't another group for Biomeds in Dialysis. I just wish it was orientated towards Equipment and Water only.

Oh, by the way, Bart's comment was funny and not taken seriously. Nurses don't really have a place in NANT though. Nurse's have ANNA.
