The clinic calls me in to day. They pulled 3 machines. The problem they told me is that if they set the temp to 37 that machines displayed the temp at 37.2, 37.4 and 36.8. I told them that this is ok b/c during PM’s when I check with the external meter it can be plus or minis 0.5 degrees centigrade. Well…. they ran right to the boss and said that I refused to fix the problem. The boss now has the staff adjusting the temps until the machine display is 37. . When I said that is not the right way to set the temps, I was told to recalibrate all 23 machines tonight. Dose anyone have advice for me?

Have your boss contact the machine manufactuers technical support and verify what you are telling them. You could also show the boss your Prevenative Maintance Manual and the manufactuers recomendation and specifications in writing by the machine manufactuer. GOOD LUCK!!!!

That is absolutely insane. Manufactures set limits for a reason. I calibrate my temp and cond every PM, but when I went to class, they said not too. They said to check it first, and if it was +/- 0.5, there was no need to cal. I agree with both Lady Tech and Temptutor, call tech support and have them verify. And then I would just apologize to whoever you pissed off. Otherwise they will find something else to complain about.
Or you could spend hours and hours of your time trying to get the exact number, replace numerous parts that are expensive. Maybe they will get it then or get more mad. But the users adjusting the temps to get the reading they want shouldn't be a big deal as long as you do have them calibrated to your meter. They adjust the temperature if patients are feeling too warm or too cold very often. Maybe that is why someone got upset, maybe a patient kept insisting that it was wrong because they were not comfortable and someone caught some grief for that and passed it on to you. But the customers are always right and you do have to try and please them as much as possible.
