I have 2 Granuflo Mixers, If anyone is interested, I am willing to sell one and the other if anyone needs repair parts I would break it down for parts. We are going back to 55 gal drums.

tylertwo,
Just interested as to why you would want to go back to drums? Granuflo is a cheaper and takes up less storage space.

Less storage space? My two 300 gallon tanks and pump only take up about 30 square feet. Now, add a Granuflo mixer and the pallets to store the boxes of dry powder and you're looking at at least another 30 square feet, if not more. How does it take up less room? Am I missing something?

We also went back to 55 gal drums at both of our units. The mixers actually do take much more room then the drums. Fill up your storage tanks with drums, get rid of the drums and your finished until the next time. The hemo techs complained and complained about mixing the powder, breathing-in the fine powder (even when wearing face masks and protection). Also had issues with back problems lifting all those bags every time you mixed. The pallets and storing the boxes of powder, that's another issue we had. Another one was cleaning and disinfecting the units, another one was filling the units for mixing and not having the dialysis machines alarm NO WATER. Sure the units were free from Fresenius, BUT we had to buy the powder from them for three years. The warranty was good for one year (service/parts)but one service call after that year and there goes all your savings using powder. I read somewhere that the savings using powder was 28/35 cents per patient treatment. And if that's true, I don't see any big savings to the units per year. The techs are glad we switched back to the drums, they don't mind pumping the acid from the drums into the storage tanks. Everyone is more happier and there's less complaining now. By the way, the RO Room now is alot cleaner, no powder dust all over the room.
