Hi
Where do you test for endotoxin levels on product water and how often?.
Do we need to test for endotoxin on every port that we test for bacterial count?
Does AAMI specific points?
Thanks for your help.

Endotoxin sample points are:
1) return water from the recirc loop
2) reuse area
3) bicarb mixing station
5) dialysis machines

Testing should be performed monthly...more often if there is an issue. Make sure you get exact results from your lab so you can trend if there is an issue. Also, especially now during this hot weather, make sure your samples are refrigerated or frozen, and enclose a frozen ice pack when shipping to your lab.

I am not challenging you, Endo; but do you have a source for the recommendations you made? Thanks.

I have not seen any source that states where to draw endotoxins from, but per our company policy we draw endo's from the same ports we draws cultures from.

What is a 29cfr? All I know from AAMI are RD52, Rd62, RD47, etc.

CFR is the acronym for "Code of Federal Regulations" and the number is the section.

29 CFR is OSHA
21 CFR is FDA
42 CFR is ESRD Conditions of Coverage which incorporates by reference the AAMI guidelines
