Are the older style blood pressure modules that came in the Fresenius H machines compatible with the new K machines?

The Colin M400 module which has been used since 1993 in the original H machines will work in a brand new K machine. You will need the ribbon wire for the M 400 module if you do this. Any of the other modules, the Colin M2000, the new Colin M4600, or the TM 2910(not made by Colin, but not very good either), since then will interchange also. We have been installing M400 modules from salvage machines in newer machines that have had failed modules for several years without any problems. The M400 has a much better track record for dependability than anything that Colin made or Fresenius has used recently. The newer modules will not withstand over-pressure situations which can be created when your staff squeezes the cuff to rapidly deflate it, so make sure you advise them repeatedly to stop that practice! Also read the latest updates from Fresenius about proper testing of the newer modules, which say that you should not over-pressurize the module like you do with an M400.And defintely do not use a tie wrap on the hose on an M4600, you may break off the plastic hose barb which is part of the whole manifold plate.

ivanrooni@gmail.com IS the M2000 BP module better than the M4600 module? At present one K machine just out of warranty had a BP module failure. Not repairable so no credit from Fresenius the replacement M2000 refurbished is the only one available @ present from Fresenius. Is this an OK module or should I wait if at possible for the M4600 module?

If your only choice is between an M2000 refurb and waiting for a new M4600 then I would go with the M2000. Does Fresenius want your bad module back in exchange? Be careful that you are not going to get charged by Fresenius for a core charge when you return the unrepairable module to them. A while ago, Fresenius did not even want bad M2000 modules back when they warrantied them, but I do not know if that is still the case now. If they do charge you for the core under their RGA (AKA RAGE!) policy you may end up paying as much as for a new module. I would defintely ask H&S Technical Services about what they can do for you in this situation, since they might be able to repair your module, and are much much more "consumer friendly" when it comes to warranties, advice, their billing practices, shipping and other services than Fresenius is.
