We changed to 45x back in April. Main reason is the dextrose going from 200 to 100mg/dl. Dextrose is made from corn and getting more expensive.

It's not just the dextrose. Look at the different formulations and how much water, bicarb and acid each uses. The 45X uses less acid and bicarb than the others. With the 45X, you are using more water. If anything it has to do with the cost of shipping. By switching to the 45X you will use less acid and bicarb. You will also find that you'll be mixing less bicarb and acid if you mix acid. Your cost per treatment for concentrate will go down greatly.

The thought behind 36.83X was that by adding a portion of the NaCl to the bicarbonate the bicarb solution would be less of media for bacterial growth. Fresenius is not the only concentrate provider - other manufacturers and suppliers continue to provide 36.83X.

has anyone heard if Rockwell is going to phase out the 36.83x ? My boss seems to think that everyone will phase this out once Fresenius does.
