Yes, we have been using ozone to disinfect our jugs for quite a while now and it works great. Method: Once we have a minamum of 750 Mv ORP in our RO loop we simple fill each jug half full, screw on the wand and shake for a few seconds so that ozone make contact with all surfaces. Drain, hang inverted and your done. The staff loves it and so do I. Culture samples of the jugs have been awsome.

When jugs are being filled with the ozonated water is their a ambient ozone safety sensor being utilized so the individual filling the jugs knows if or when the OSHA exposure limit is being reached and to what levels they are being exposed.

AAMI Guidelines (RD62:2001 page 9)

When used to control bacterial proliferation in water storage and distribution systems, an ozone generator shall be capable of delivering ozone at the concentration and the exposure time specified by the manufacturer. When ozone disinfection systems are used, it is recommended that an ambient air ozone monitor be installed in the area of the ozone generator

Any one using Ozone with out monitering for ambient ozone is asking for trouble. I assumed wrongly that was a given. I have three such moniters placed at strategic places within the water room and where bicarb jugs are ozone disinfected. As with any disinfection procedure, safety must always be the main concern for those doing a procedure. Staff must be well informed and trained on proper ozone use. Not everyone should be performing this task.As for ozone quinity and dwell time, let the culture reports and the LAL testing be your guide. Pete
