When is the swiss guys at Gambro going to release theyre new machine or is it on the back burner until this Gambro baxter question is settled.

A new machine would help Gambro vs. the Integra product line.

I think you mean the Swedish guys at Gambro, anyway I just heard that the "new" machine is actually the AK 200 when and where it will be made available is anyone's guess.

Anyone with more concrete info?

I am actually not working with Gambro machines, but during my visits to Clinics in my country I noticed that one AK200 model is being evaluated for more then six months.

If the rumors are true, then there will not be a new Gambro machine, the new machine will be a Baxter. I just saw the new machine by Baxter,(it was pictured in a dialysis journal)and is it my imagination, or does it look exactly like the Althin? (Baxter bought Althin last year)

Had the opportunity to spend some time with the Meridian - Baxter's new machine - pretty nifty - combines the reliablity of the Baxter X50 - XX50 platform - with a CRT info center - has a profile similar to the Althin - but it's a Baxter all the way - volumetric sensors - some new components - easier acces to the electronic / hydraulics from the sides of the machine (doors come off).

Also heard that the new Gambro machine called the "Phoenix" is not an AK machine but the "CX" machine that was being developed over here.

The Phoenix is scheduled to be viewed at the upcoming conference at ASN. Its my understanding that it still needs to go through US approval process which could take another 6 to 8 months. In my opinion, there are better machines out there

Yes the new gambro machine is called "phoenix
it is based on the integra with some ideads from cobe ie blood pump, clamps. The main board has a pantium 133 MKhz processor and a CDram instead of floopy disks for clinical teaching. It based on the "CX" machine. It will be shown in the ASN conference in Toronto ( October 2000). I had a chance to see the machine and see a demo, it looks very neat and it has lots of potential, and a very user friendly touch screen display. Also, some neat features. GO to the ASN and you will see. It shoud be ready for markating in spring 2000.

The Phoenix still has a cartridge blood line. I thought after the problems Cobe had with hemolysis and patient deaths they might consider doing away with that concept.
I would never go with a machine that locked me into one blood line or vendor.

We have a demo Phoenix at our facility. The hydraulics and chassis are the same as the integra. It uses the same blood lines as the C3. Much more 'user friendly' than the integra.
