We don't do reuse so we use the "emptying" mode at the end of the treatment to empty the dialyzer of fluid. The reason is to save on weight costs when we send it to the biohaz co that charges by weight.

What's it mean when you close the shunt door during this procedure and the fluid starts coming out of the red port when you close the door? The blue hansen is back at the shunt door and the red hanson is at the bottom dialysate port of the dialyzer.
Thanks

I have never used the emptying program but I had a machine a couple of years ago that had a problem with it.

It turns out the switch that the hanson connectors activate was broken, the spring had come out and the emptying program was stuck on all the time.

Check that switch under the door and make sure the buttons push in and pop back out. If the red side's switch is broken and stuck in, the machine thinks the red hanson connector is on the port and will allow fluid to flow through the connecting tubing.
