Would like if could get some info on the way dialyzers are processed. From start to finish. Do u hold under pressure? Do u remove headers and o-rings? If u remove headers do u have to change gloves before touching next dialyzer? Do u wash with Just RO before running on machine?.....
Please give me some good detailed info. Also what are some prices of dialyzers for single use? And even some info on prices of reuse, no reuse.. Which is better on price.

Boy, lots of info needed here. Minntech has a great program for training re-use techs that would answer most of your questions, but here goes: Most units do not remove headers as this can sometimes cause blood to leak out if not sealed properly. There are many ways to pre-clean the dialyzer - either with a machine flush or RO water. Then on the reprocessing machine. Yes I think you should change gloves between dialyzers if you are removing headers, but this may not always happen - another reason for not removing headers.

As for price, it depends on the manufacturer, the contracts you may have with vendors etc. Our unit did a study comparing all costs for doing re-use vs. single use. We are a hospital based unit, so disposal costs are fixed, which makes a difference. We were constantly training new techs for this position (we had dedicated techs for re-use). So we looked at cost for supplies, machine maint., training costs, dialyzer cost and extra heparin or saline used post treatment to help flush blood out of dialyzer. We found for our unit it was cheaper to go with single use.

Anyway, sorry for such a long answer, but I hope this answers at least a part of your questions.
