Can you use fluid filled gauges on the product side of a RO water system? I there any fear of the glycerin leaking out? Would you buy gauges from anyone else then the RO manufacturer? If you do, who?

Thanks

I was told when I first started in the dialysis business not to use fluid filled gauges on the product side of the RO due to the fluid can leak into the water. The pre-treated side prior to the RO was alright. As for who to buy from, I have purchased gauges from Grainger before and have never had a problem with them.

Make that liquid filled. If I could register, I would.

I have no liquid filled gauges post RO. The gauges pre all are liquid filled. I know you must make sure that post RO that the gauges are stainless steel.

All my gauges post RO are fluid filled. Even the ones on the RO itself. I get my gauges from Mar Cor or Indelco.

I am looking at a brand new <1 year old install, US Filter/Siemans RO, Med RO Series model number MRORXO8AX, definitely FDA Approved, and every gauge on it is filled with Glycerin. They are Ashcroft. They do have a sticked on them that indicates that they could be filled with Silicone, and IF that were the case that might be something to worry about. These gauges also are not vented on the top like some Glycerin filled guages that I have seen.

Of course now that I think about it, all of the gauges on that new RO are pre membrane. There are no pressure gauges post membrane on the RO itself that I am familiar with.

Purchased filled SS Ashcroft gauges from Grainger for Pre & Post RO.
Is there any regulation/standard about these on Post side?

If you are refering to flowmeter gauges, all I can say about this is that it is true that GE Osmonics do use fluid filled gauges on their RO systems.
