I know of some folks in Ghana that are using machines from the US and they are using a convertor that they had to buy seperately from the machines. I do not have the information on the unit that they bought, and I do not know what the capacity of it is or how many machines it will run at the same time.

I am aware of the external device but to have a converter for every hospital that will use the models will make it non cost efective since each unit will have a converter separeately. This same model has been supplied to kenya before already adopted internally for the suitable power. it's only for the engineers to share whether it only takes the power supply to convert or there are other small internal parts to be converted.

You might have to change the heater rod as well as the power supply. The heater rod is 110V and the power for it comes out of the power supply. In US dollars a new (not rebuilt)110V power supply would cost about $560, and a 110V heater rod is $133. You will have to get the price from Fresenius for the 220 volt parts. And ask them if the 220V heater rod will fit into the hydroblock. You also really need to ask Fresenius about this before you make any decision about how to do it. If you alter the machines you should consider whether or not you are voiding any certification that might be required by the Kenyan government that is provided by Fresenius reguarding the safety and\or operation of the machines.

I'm not sure but I would think it would require a new transformer in the powersupply, one with a input of 220v. There may be another input tap on the transformer already in there, just not exposed. I would guess that everything else should be the same as the US model.
Good Luck

hi rk,
it seems you are also sailing on the same boat.
i am in india and we also have got quite a few numbers of 2008 e/ h coming here.
it is quite possible to have them converted to 220 volts but will require some efforts in terms of changing of transformer. heater rod, hour meter.
we are doing the same here with help of some local developed parts.

would it be possible for you to connect us with your resource in India to see if we can buy them from them. I know this has been done successfully in Cameroon where they have installed 2008H models and are fully functional one on the engineers who participated in this process will be visiting Kenya soon
Thanks
