Is there any code or regulation about allowing patents to bring to the facility electrical devices like radios, blankets and dvd players?
We do not know if they are OK to bring or if we should not allow certain devices. facility is located in California thanks

Any electrical device which requires an AC outlet must be approved by biomedical engineering befdore using at our facility. Therefore, any appliance brought in by a patient can not be used for safety reasons. Biomed can not approve devices not under their immediate surveillance. Battery powered devices are ok.

Things that plug in have to be 3 prong grounded or double insulated wire also, which will make almost everything not approved. That is for things in the patient area. That is per OSHA regulation i believe.

I know that the electrical blankets are not grounded and they might not be double insulated So, I guess they should not be used in the facility. right? Is there a on the label on the device that I should look for, to know if they meet codes? thanks

I'd say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of fire extinguisher. Please read NFP 99.
