Has anyone out there with 2008K's
(V2.16, 5.04)have any problems with blood pump errors after a power failure? At my chronic unit, on two seperate occasions I have experienced some unique problems. Most machines did not power down due to the lapse between power failure and generator power, the two that did shut down were powered back up by the user. The blood pumps on these same two machines once powered up began rotating at a very high rate (well over the maximum 600 ml/min), and the display reads an E06 alarm.

The first time this happened a few months back, Fresenius replaced the blood pumps stating they were aware of the problem (some sort of watchdog error) and that it has been corrected in the latest (unreleased to public) software version. Now that it's happened a second time, I'm being told differently. Does anyone have any feedback or has anyone else experienced this problem?

We have had the same problem with over 4 blood pump modules with the same B.S. response from Fresenius. We investigated the problem ourselves and found a tantalum capacitor rated for 33 volts would short because it was under rated, thus shorting the 24v driver keeping the pump on indefinitly. The new replacement modules we received had a 63v (double the 24v line)electroyitic capacitor installed, thus fixing the poor design error. We have told Fresenius what we found but haven't heard from them. The modules are manufactured in Germany so the response may take a while. The watchdog should of caught the runaway pump,this is a poor software design. In the mean time we can only wait to see something happen to a patient before Fresenius move quicker in responds to the many poor design and software issues on this 2008K.
