Hi,
is there any specific formulae for RO antiscalent? is it food grade? harmful for patient if injected in RO stream during HDF? |

The only requirement is that it should not impact the AAMI water quality. RD62 "Chemicals infused into the water, such as iodine, acid, flocculants, and complexing agents, shall be shown to be nondialyzable or shall be adequately removed from product water; monitors or specific test procedures to verify removal of additives shall be provided." RD52 "If an automated control system is used to inject the chemical, the controlling parameter should be independently monitored. There should also be a means of verifying that the concentrations of any residuals arising from the chemical added to the water are reduced to a safe level before the water reaches its point of use." Also, RD52 "The facility should also verify that the injected chemical does not degrade the performance of downstream devices, including the primary purification process."
Most antiscalants are large molecules therefore they do not pass through the membrane. As Techmex says, if you purchase through a 510k dealer, it should be good to use. AmeriWater is another vendor who promotes antiscalants with their ROs. The Water Guy - Florian Services |

T/F ,thanks a million for your reply, much appreciate it.
No disinfection during dialysis was performed, no worries, this is a theoretical scenario. But if it happened, does anybody faced such a problem? what impact on patient!!!!! |
