As my techs start to gather info to prepare themselves for the fall NNCO exam I would like to know if anyone knows if NANT has compiled a study guide specific for the biomeds in dialysis. I have a copy of the first NANT study guide but it is very weak in the biomed areas. I keep hearing that a revised edition is due to be out but I have received very little feedback from the NANT office number when I have called twice. It would be nice to know if the revised edition will contain more biomed info before we buy one. I have also contacted the NNCO office and asked if they have a biomed specific study guide but they suggested I call NANT because NANT is the educational organization and NNCO is a certification organization. If anyone can shed some light on this please respond.

Dennis do you know where NANT is with completing or releasing a study guide for biomeds and clinical techs so that one can prepare for the NNCO cert test? For years now NANT has been telling the biomed techs that there is a study guide being put together and they had mentioned a revised clinical tech guide as well. What's up? Hopefully, you as the NANT Sec/Treas can get an answer.I know the biomed community has been waiting forever(since the old NNTCB), or so it seems. I thought that most of NANT's mission was to educate. Please post a response that will let both clinical and biomeds know where these guides are. I have called the National NANT office but can not get a solid response.

T/F,

I'll try to get a more definative answer for you on Monday. But the last I heard the revision of the "Manual for Dialysis Technicians" which includes a biomedical section is scheduled to be in final draft this summer, with the publication in the fall. Maybe sooner. I'll post as soon as I get a reply.

Yes, The "Dialysis Technology Manual" 2nd edition, is going to the printers
in two weeks. Please accept my personal apoligies for how long it has taken.

The second edition will contain much more information for the Bio-Med tech,
with Baxter's John Sweeny making considerable contribution.

In this manual is as much information about dialysis technology as we could
come up with. I is desinged to help you learn about your field. Though it
was
not developed as a study guide specific to the NNCO or BONENT, it should help some
preparing for either of the exams.

To TechForce, and all who are waiting for the Dialysis Technology Manual, 2nd edition:

Just wanted to provide an update. We're in the final stages of proofing, and are getting very close to sending this book to the printer.

I know it's frustrating for those waiting for the publication, but please understand that it's important to do the double-checking BEFORE we print all the copies we need.

We will post a notice when the second edition is received from the printers.

For those who want to get their copy immediately when it's printed (could this be the Harry Potter of Dialysis?), email us at nant@nant.meinet.com and we'll e-mail you a publication order form, if you can accept a Word document. OR, if you can't, provide us with your fax number or mailing address. We only accept orders in writing -- you can fax it in with your credit card information or mail it with a check.

Thanks for your patience!
Fran Rickenbach, NANT Executive Director
