Our policy is to bleach once a week and to heat after the bleach. We heat 6 days a week.

I think a better question here is "Is it okay to heat disinfect the machine after bleach and rinse - rinse?

Think about it for a minute.

If you bleach, then the machine rinses out the bleach, then you turn the machine off. You will have unsterile water sitting in the machine overnight, a couple of days, whatever.

Can you 100% say there are absolutely no bugs in the water coming from the RO, or in your lines? Even when your CFU counts are below the maximum allowed you can still have them. The bugs love water that hasn't been heat disinfected with them in it.

We always heat disinfect after bleach for this very reason.

I guess this would depend on what machines you are using. FMC says to heat disinfect daily, after last treament with the exception of days when you use bleach. Bleach should be used once a week. If a machine has been stored for more than 48 hrs., then a heat or bleach disinfect should be performed before use. Think about this, you rinse your bicarb mixer, caps, and wands with RO water after bleach disinfect. Same thing. I guess you can do what you need to do.

Ok guys, this is what I've found out,
If the dialysis machine is without Heat disinfection capability bleach disinfection is to be done after the last treatment each day the machine is used.
Otherwise, Dialysis machines with heat disinfection capability - heat disinfection is to be performed after the last treatment each day the machine is used except when bleach is used (Bleach disinfection at a minimum of once a week.
