When you check the conductivity of your dialysate in the morning with what ever instrument you may use, what are the allowable +/- range? Say your machine reads 14.0 and the meter 14.2, what is an acceptable difference? Is there a standard?

[13.5-14.5] -Conductivity

[6.8-7.4] -pH

These our my clinics guidlines.
So they are the standard, if not, they should be.

Oh, one other thing. The Base Na+ and Bicarb on the concentrate confimination screen will change these values. Pay attention to your limits on the machine as well. Ours is 140 sodium 38 bicarb.
These are doctor's orders.

I believe this is what I was looking for. We have Fresenius also.

Quoted from ORC

I can only comment on the Fresenius machines but there is a range + or - 0.5 mS of TCD. That limit can be tighter if you wish. Personnaly if the condo. is + or - 0.2 mS I want to know about and have the machine checked.

So, is 0.5 a standard?

Guest,

Here is a look at AAMI Guidlines:
"
RD52 table 4

Dialysate Conductivity and pH NA Each treatment Conductivity within ± 5% of the
nominal machine value; pH in
the range 6.9–7.6

NOTE—It is not possible to specify universally acceptable operating ranges for each device listed in the table, since some of
these values will be system-specific. In those cases (denoted by Xs in the Specification column of the table), the facility should
define an acceptable operating range based on manufacturer’s instructions or measurements of system performance."

Manufacture X recommends (per PM sheet specifications):
Conductivity within 0.5uS (machine Vs. external mater).
Temperature within 1.5 degrees Celcius (as above).

We had the same question at a state survey, and the answer was +-5% of your nominal machine value, in K's will be 5% of your TCD, whatever the value is your NA and Bicarbonate prescribe by your MD
