I've a M2600 bp module that went out. Not repairable. The M2000 blue in color is the only replacement available by Fresenius. It is an older refurbed module. Is this module ok? Or should I wait until the M2600's (black) are available?

The M2600 and the M2000 are both made by Colin, and both models have had many more problems than the older much bigger more durable M 400 modules that Colin used to provide to Fresenius. We have had several M2600 modules that have had broken plastic hose barbs from using a wire tie on them. That hose barb is a part of the whole back and side of the module, and we have had no luck in repairing that. If you can get an M400 from an H machine that is out of service use that module and you will need the ribbon wire for it. The M400 was used until about 1999 or 2000. Fresenius also uses a TM 2910 module that is not made by Colin, and there have been lots of problems with that one also, they did not give reliable blood pressures, they seemed to be coming up unreasonably high, and frequently would not pass the leak test or the deflation speed test when you use the test can and pressure guage on them. Maybe the reaason that Fresenius has so many M 2000 refurbed modules, is that they failed so often and were returned for warranty. H&S can also repair your moduleles. And defintely tell your staff not to try to deflate the cuff by squeezing it, since overpressurization of these miniaturized modules seems to do them in.
The black modules have been available since '05 using part # 150485. It comes with the module attached to a bracket, and a new cable. It's the same price as the blue replacement module. There is no exchange on the module s though. The white cables from blue modules are not compatable with the black modules. There is however a new module that will be available soon. This new modules is silver, big and bulky just like the old H modules. It is supposed to be the best module since those H style modules, but it is for the K machines. I haven't heard a release date or a part number as of yet.
Ktech/all, I feel for you on the hose barb breaking but I may be able to help you out. I have found that you can order the hose barb assembly directly from Colin. The part is called a 2600 NIBP manifold assembly p/n x0200382A and the cost is $12.50. Alot cheaper than buying a new module. Colin's phone number is 1-800-829-6427. This part is very easy to replace by the way!
Several years ago I was able to get the part numbers for the M400 mdules from Colin, and when we tried to buy the main board from them Colin rejected the sale because the whole module was licensed to Fresenius and the parts were proprietary.
